The traces of Christ
“Reflecting on the crucifixion which is the greatest event in human history, I wanted to express the traces of the event that caused his heart to melt, holding God the Father’s hand in one hand and a human’s hand in the other.
I worked while considering what would happen when great force and immense heat were applied to the iron, and I paid attention to the object’s reaction beyond my planned intentions. I tried to preserve the natural movements that occurred as the soil shifted, without resisting them as much as possible.
The color of the cross was not achieved through conventional painting methods as intended by the artist, but rather through a patination technique utilizing the chemical reaction between acid and iron or bronze, creating a space where the materials themselves react and interact.
